On the 30th of April we celebrate Queens Day here in the Netherlands. Lots of festivities, parties and street fairs. And a lot of people dragging their stuff from the attic down to the street to sell. Some people sell their old record collections. Most people’s collections are crap, but if you get up early there is a lot of great stuff to find. Me and Kasimir went down to the Appollolaan and bought a stack of records. Kasimir made a compilation which you can download here, I’ll try to make one as well if I find the time.

Used to be a big fan of everything James Lavelle used to do in the 90′s…?Almost all the releases on his Mo’Wax label where on point, and the packagings where always something special. The designs by Ben Drury incorporated works by graffiti legend Futura and Massive Attack’s 3D. I played the Headz-compilations to death, enjoying some fine smokes. Ah, great times.

His latest UNKLE albums, I don’t really feel them musically. But the design of the new UNKLE cd, Where Did the Night Fall, is awesome as usual. Makes me wanna buy it anyway. And then maybe give it a spin as well. (more…)
